We learned of the Maori people's success in growing and harvesting timber only to lose out to industrial operators; we experienced their hospitality and devotion in their Marae and enjoyed a BBQ from their Hangi underground cooking. A quick stop at the Mud Pots was a fitting precursor to tomorrow's Geothermal Valley
